Background Checks
Barber-Scotia College will conduct background checks on all employees, agents, volunteers, or subcontractors who may have access to proprietary College systems. These checks must be completed prior to an offer being made. The background checks will verify address, employment, education, national criminal, and credit (if applicable to the position). Barber-Scotia College shall not allow any employee, agent, volunteer, or contractor to have contact with students until Barber-Scotia College has confirmed with the Board of Trustees that each respective member has successfully completed the background check in accordance with the
Barber-Scotia College Background Check Policy.

Code of Ethics and Confidentiality
It is the policy of BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE that each Staff, Faculty, and Vendor shall keep confidential all information relating to financials, information pertaining to students, donors and the college unless compelled by legal process to disclose such information, or as otherwise agreed by the Board of Trustees and or College representative.
Staff, Faculty and Vendors acknowledge that any violation of this policy could cause harm to BARBER- SCOTIA COLLEGE and interfere with college operations. Therefore, any person who violates this policy shall be subject to removal his/her position and further actions taken and determined by the College.
To ensure compliance with applicable laws and to protect BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE, its members, officers, directors, staff, and committee members from potential legal issues regarding conflicts of interest and violation of fiduciary obligations, BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE endorses and adopts the following statement of policy:
i. Duty of Loyalty - Among the fiduciary obligations of an officer, director, staff member, faculty member, vendor, or committee member of a nonprofit corporation is a duty of loyalty to the non-profit corporation. This includes supporting, and not opposing directly or indirectly or taking any other stance against, the policies and positions duly adopted by BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE 's Board of Trustees.
I hereby acknowledge that as a Staff, Faculty, or Vendor supporting Barber-Scotia College, I shall have access to confidential information concerning BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE, including but not limited to student information, Board of Trustee information, President, Faculty, Staff information and legal, financial, and other proprietary information about the organization.
I agree that I will not at any time during my service or in the years following that tenure divulge any such confidential information, nor transfer any such confidential information to any third party, nor use any such confidential information for my own purpose or for any purpose other than in connection with my authorized role.
