Colonel Lee M. Bruner III

Colonel Lee M. Bruner III received his commission, as an Armor officer, from Howard University in 2003. His first assignment was to the 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, TX where he served as a Tank Platoon Leader in B Company 3d Battalion, 66 Armor Regiment, B Troop 7th Squadron, Cavalry Regiment, and C Company 1st Battalion, 12 Infantry Regiment and the Executive Officer for D Company 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment.
After completing the Infantry Captains Career Course, COL Bruner served as the National Training Center Desk Officer, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, GA; Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, 2d Brigade, 10th Mountain Division Fort Drum, NY; and the Commander Alpha Troop (SABER) 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Drum, NY.
Following Command, COL Bruner transitioned to the Army Acquisition Corps and attended the Army Acquisition Basic Course and Army Acquisition Intermediate Program Managers Course.
COL Bruner’s acquisitions assignments include: Assistant Product Manager for DVE, Long Range Acquisition Scout Surveillance System, 2GF – Product Manager Ground Sensors, Project Manager Terrestrial Sensors; Assistant Product Manager for Tactical Collection Devices, Product Manager Joint Personnel Identification, Project Manager Biometrics; Program Integrator Mission Installation and Contracting Command; Assistant Product Manager Survivability, Product Manager Stryker Future Operation, Stryker Brigade Combat Team; and a Financial Synchronization Officer in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Plans, Programs and Resources); a Training With Industry Fellow in which he worked within Amazon as a Senior Program Manager, and Notably Served as the 18th Program Manager for the Abram Tank Systems portfolio.
COL Bruner’s most recent assignment was as a student at the National Defense University where he earned is Master’s of Science in National Security and Resource Strategy with a concentration in Finance and earned a Graduate Certificate in Senior Acquisitions Management.
COL Bruner also holds a Master’s of Business Administration – Information System Management from Troy University’s Sorrell College of Business.
COL Bruner’s certifications include Defense Acquisition Workforce Information Act Certification Level III in both Program Management and Information Systems; Program Management Professional – Program Management Institute and Scrum Alliance – Certified Scrum Master.
COL Bruner’s military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Order of St. George.
In his community service, Colonel Bruner volunteers on several prestigious boards, including the Barber-Scotia College Board of Trustees, Howard University’s Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts Board of Visitors, The N’Namdi Center of Contemporary Art Board of Directors, and the Beta Omega Social Services Board of Directors. Additionally, he serves as the International Director of Military Affairs for Iota Phi Theta Fraternity and is a member of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC
COL Bruner is married to LTC(R) Mia Bruner. They have 3 children Lee IV, Lex, and Lia.
